LAHORE: ‘Yellow Rooms’ established by the last government for waste collection of hospitals in Punjab have stopped working for want of funds.

MPA Mian Irfan Daultana pointed out that due to stoppage of funds in all district and tehsil hospitals, the project of ‘Yellow Rooms’ has been stopped and there is a big threat of spreading hepatitis among the patients while re-use of syringes and other hospital waste would be another threat. Mian Irfan Daultana highlighted that closure of this programme would also be compelling 700 families to worry about their bread and butter while it will be also violation of international standards for health institutions. He demanded the Punjab government immediately take action in this regard and release funds for ‘Yellow Room’ project in all district and tehsil hospitals otherwise the issue will be raised in Punjab Assembly as well. He said Shahbaz Sharif government took initiatives for destroying hospital waste properly which was appreciated by World Bank, World Health Organization, Unicef, EPA, Health Care Commission and other national and international organisations but the present government has ignored all the standards and playing with the lives of innocent patients.
