QWP calls for forging unity among Pakhtuns

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader and former senior minister Sikandar Sherpao has stressed the need for forging unity among the Pakhtun nationalist forces, saying his party was striving to unite the Pakhtuns and address the challenges they were facing.

In a statement, he said that his party had stepped up efforts to unite the Pakhtuns on a single platform to address the challenges being faced by the Pakhtuns in the region.

A three-member team of the QWP led by Sikandar Sherpao met the Awami Workers Party leadership and discussed with him various issues confronted by the Pakhtuns.

QWP leaders Asad Afridi Advocate, Tariq Ahmad Khan and Awami Workers Party provincial president Shahab Khattak Advocate, Akhunzada Haider Zaman, Fazal-e-Maula, Comrade Iftikhar, Qazi Hakeem and Taj Nawab Khattak and others were also present.

The leadership of both the parties agreed on continuing contacts to find a viable solution to the core issues in the region.

The AWP leaders assured the QWP of their support in bringing the Pakhtuns out of the crisis.

Earlier, the QWP had also contacted National Party leader Mukhtar Bacha and Mazdoor Kisan Party leader Afzal Shah Khamosh to forge unity among the nationalist forces and adopt a common agenda for the solution to the problems of Pakhtuns.

Sikandar Sherpao said in the prevailing situation there was a dire need for forging unity among the Pakhtuns. “We are committed to making efforts for forging unity among Pakhtuns, who are facing a host of challenges,” he maintained.

Pesco to replace old cables

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to complete replacing of old electricity cables with ABC in and around Peshawar The Pesco and the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) have started the replacement of all obsolete electric supply cables with ABC (aerial bundled cables) and will complete the processes in and around Peshawar very soon. This was informed a high-level meeting regarding problems and issues in electricity supply in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan with Federal Minister Umar Ayub Khan presided over the meeting in Islamabad.
