PESHAWAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao Monday accused the provincial government and the Election Commission (EC) of mismanagement in the local government elections and directed party’s officeholders to prepare district-wise analysis report on alleged rigging.
In a statement, he said the commoners still did not know the winners and losers of the polls. He said insufficient security arrangements at polling stations paved the way for mismanagement and irregularities that resulted in scuffles among political activists. “The human losses could have been prevented had the provincial government taken prompt security measures,” he added. He said voters also faced problems due to inadequate polling staff.
“Unavailability of ballot papers in some polling stations, misprinting of election symbols and stealing of ballot boxes by political workers showed poor performance of the provincial government and the election commission,” Sherpao said.
“Keeping in mind such irregularities, will the PTI-led provincial government announce judicial commission to satisfy other political parties?” he questioned.
