Probe begins into murder of ex-policeman
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police have registered the murder case of a former head constable Arshad Munir. The case was registered on the report of Muhammad Sharif, father of the deceased, at the Cantt Police Station.
Earlier, funeral prayer for Arshad Munir was offered at Dinpur locality, which was largely attended by local people. Arshad Munir was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists on Thursday when he was on way for shopping in Dinpur bazaar. The assailants equipped with arms sprayed him with bullets, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital.
Arshad Munir served as Havaldar in District Special Branch and ended his service in August 2018 after he was issued repeated threat letters by unknown organisations. Dera Ismail Khan is among the districts confronting challenges like sectarian violence, targeted killings and attacks on law-enforcers and security forces.
