PESHAWAR: Khalil Mohmand Awami Ittihad (KMAI) has asked the government to demarcate land between Khyber and Peshawar districts according to the land revenue record.

The KMAI held a jirga here that was chaired by its patron-in-chief Arbab Khalid Khan and attended by elders and 100 elected representatives of the towns and village councils.

The jirga vowed to continue efforts for forcing the government to settle the land disputes between the residents of the two districts according to the state land revenue record.

The jirga asked the government to avoid permitting construction on the shared lands on the border between the districts before settling the dispute. The jirga also demanded imposition of Section-4 till the issue was resolved.

During his concluding speech, Arbab Khalid Khan asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to order demarcation between the two districts according to the official record forthwith without wasting any further time.

He said the jirga would announce it future line of action if the government failed to accept their legal demand, saying that the residents were asking the government to settle the land dispute according to the official record.

The jirga demanded of the government to ask the Election Commission of Pakistan to avoid including the village councils of Peshawar in the electoral constituencies of Khyber district.
