3,435 persons arrested in drive against kite-flying
LAHORE: A massive crackdown by Punjab police is continuing on the kite flyers, kite dealers and manufacturers across the whole province. The progress reports on a weekly basis are being sought from all field officers with regard to the crackdown so that protection to the public may be ensured, said Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Amjad Javed Saleemi while reviewing the progress reports regarding the anti-kite flying campaign.
Additional IG Operations Inam Ghani briefed the IG that during the last six weeks, cases were registered against 3,038 persons. As many as 3,447 persons were found involved in manufacturing metallic strings. Around 3,435 persons were arrested and challans against 1,387 accused were completed. Around 182,332 kites and 7,104 string rolls were seized. In Faisalabad, 1,656 cases were registered while 66,369 kites, 3,354 string rolls, 9,340 kg nylon chemical powder and 10 bundles of kite paper were seized.
