Following the Pulwama attack, the Indian Army’s brutal crackdown on Kashmiris, and the rulers’ silence over them, have exposed India’s so-called secular, democratic image. India’s accusations against Pakistan have also tensed the relations between the two neighbours.
Given the increasing turmoil, any use of force will incite even more violence in the occupied area. It is time the international community, instead of behaving like a silent spectator, intervened in the Kashmir issue and pressurised the Modi-led Indian government to stop the oppression of the Kashmiris.
