Illegal structures removed from Ladies Club in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday cleared the Ladies Club in the University Town of encroachments after demolishing two illegal structures constructer there five years back.
A heavy machinery was used to demolish “Deewan-i-Khas” and “Coffee Pot” — the two buildings which were constructed illegally on the premises of the Ladies Club in year 2010 during the Awami National Party-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
The district administration had received the keys of “Deewan-e-Khas” and “Coffee Pot” on Thursday. The two buildings were opened on Friday in the presence of Peshawar Division Commissioner Munir Azam, Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud, PMC Administrator Syed Zaffar Ali Shah and Additional Secretary Local Government Bartkatullah Marwat.
The demolition of the illegal structures was carried out under the supervision of Town Committee chief, Nasrullah. A large number of woman members of the Ladies Club and other residents of the University Town were also present at the site when the illegal structures were being pulled down. Those present raised slogans in favour of the rule of law, district administration and the PMC.
