KARACHI: A double hat-trick by Ambreen helped WAPDA crush Islamabad 16-0 in the 3rd All Pakistan Fatima Jinnah Gold Cup at the District Sports Ground in Multan on Friday.
An interesting encounter between Army and Punjab University Club was abandoned due to rain and both teams were awarded one point each.
The tournament is being organized by Pakistan Hockey Federation in collaboration with Umeed-i-Jawaan Progressive Organisation.
WAPDA’s Ambreen performed superbly throughout the match and received public applause for her dribbling, dodging and successful finishing. In the first minute, Ambreen struck the first blow and continued to add goals to her basket in the 6th, 7th, 12th, 14th and 24th minutes.
Azra also scored a hat-trick, striking in the 10th, 17th and 40th minutes.
Ayesha’s two goals came in 9th and 16th minutes.
Maira (3rd min), Nazia (4th min), Sidra (29th min), Amina (37th min) and Nafeesa (49th min) were the other scorers.
Beenish Hayat and Munawwar Hussain supervised the match.
Torrential rain deprived spectators to watch a thrilling conclusion of the second match between Army and Punjab University Club.
At the beginning of the third quarter rain stopped the play. When rain stopped after forty five minutes, small ponds in patches on the grassy ground made it impossible to resume the match.
