PML-Q, SUP leaders discuss alliance

The leaders of Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) in a series of meetings with different political, religious and nationalist parties to canvass support for the upcoming local bodies election, on Friday met Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, who leads the Sindh United Party (SUP), at the Haider Manzil.
The PML-Q’s Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh met Shah and a couple of his associates and explored the possibilities of forging an alliance with each other during a discussion on the problems and tussles between the country’s federating units.
Sheikh told Shah and his coterie that he was meeting the leaders of different political and religious parties to ally with for contesting the local bodies’ election and bring a positive change in the country. The SUP chief, in his response, reminded Sheikh that the party was also in alliance with the federal-ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). However, he said, the attitude and behaviour of the PML-N toward Sindh had proven to be disappointing.
He said the doors of politics were always open but they should not cost the progress and betterment of the people.
Shah told Sheikh that his proposal would be presented to SUP leaders and the possibility of entering an alliance with the PML-Q will be given due consideration.
Sheikh said the PML-Q believed that strong provinces strengthened Pakistan and working together could prove to be a step in that direction.
The SUP chief was quite critical of the country’s political situation and said Punjab seemed to have supremacy over other three federating units of the country.
