A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed appeal of Hijratullah against his conviction in Manawan Police Training School attack.
On October 19, 2009, an anti-terrorist court had awarded Hijratullah 10-year rigorous imprisonment for attempting to destroy a military helicopter during a military operation against the terrorist attack on the police training school on March 30, 2009.
Prosecution said Hijratullah along with other 12 terrorists on March 30, 2009 attacked Manawan Police Training School with hand grenades and bombs in which 22 police officials were killed and 100 others injured. The security personnel arrested a suspicious man and recovered a hand grenade, a dagger and some papers from his possession. It added that the man was later identified as Hijratullah alias Shakirullan, son of Matiullah, a resident of Charsadda. The prosecution said he wanted to destroy a military helicopter. An FIR under the Explosive Substances Act 1908, 13(20)65 of Arms Ordinance and Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act was registered against him at Manawan police station.
