Commander Corps Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar held separate meetings with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, and discussed with them the law and order situation in the province and the ongoing operation against criminals in Karachi.
The corps commander called on Shah at the Chief Minister’s House, where they conferred on the Rangers-led operation in the city and progress in the Safoora bus carnage case.
Lt General Mukhtar congratulated the chief minister on the busting of a group involved in the deadly attack on an Ismaili bus near Safoora Chowrangi and the resultant arrest of terrorists, including the mastermind of the incident.
Both reiterated their commitment to purge Karachi of terrorists and criminals, as well as restoring the glories of the city.
They decided to strengthen coordination among the intelligence agencies in the province to achieve the objectives of the operation.
In the meeting at the Governor House, the corps commander and the governor reviewed progress in implementing decisions taken by the provincial apex committee under the National Action Plan against terrorism. They discussed several proposals for fast implementation of the apex committee’s decisions.
They also expressed their satisfaction with the arrest of the killers of the May 13 Safoora attack victims.
Both the authorities were of the consensus view that the Karachi operation should continue at an accelerated pace against terrorists and criminals without any discrimination.
