‘CPSP offers fellowships in 73 disciplines’

LAHORE: The Society of Diabetes and Endocrine organised a national conference on diabetes which was attended by diabetes’ experts and heads of medical institutions.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, Prof Muhammad Bilal, president of the society, presented the welcome address and explained the aim of the conference and guidelines for the treatment of diabetes. The president of International Diabetes Federation, Prof Abdul Samad Shera, gave a lecture on diabetes.
The chief guest of the conference Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, acting president CPSP, informed CPSP was offering fellowships in 73 disciplines and its more than 21,000 trainee doctors were getting training under the supervision of more than 3,000 supervisors in 272 institutions within the country and abroad.
Addressing the conference, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal said CPSP was trying its best to provide experts of diabetes to fulfil the shortage of doctors in the country. The present council of CPSP has started fellowship in Endocrine and diabetes at par with international institutions. Presently 32 fellows are under training across the country in 9 accredited institutions under 32 approved supervisors whereas 10 doctors have passed fellowship examination last year but this influx of specialists is beyond the need of the country.
