LAHORE
Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Punjab General Secretary Ch Zaheeruddin Khan has said that anyone speaking against the army, inside or outside the parliament, was intolerable.
He said the government issued its statement after ISPR’s reaction which was a moment of thought adding the government’s spokesman did not delay a moment in responding to the criticism of political opponents, their late response regarding the army matter was not understandable.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, Ch Zaheer expressed these views while addressing a gathering of the Pakistan Muslim League office-bearers and workers at the Muslim League House on Saturday.
He said the army was fighting against terrorism for the security of 20 crore civilians, its officers and jawans were offering sacrifices of their lives and achieving successes so at this stage criticism for political objectives was condemnable.
He said that at this critical juncture media should also play its national role according to the demands of patriotism and speeches causing hatred and provocation should be boycotted.
On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League has once again reiterated its complete and full support for the armed forces of Pakistan and clearly stated that the tirade of anyone against the armed forces was not acceptable.
In a statement issued on Saturday, party’s spokesman said in a statement that this was a popular institution of the people of Pakistan which had rendered laudable services for the security of Pakistan in every difficult time whether these were aggression of the enemy, internal concerns, natural calamities or any other challenge.
Strongly condemning the statement of Altaf Hussain, the spokesman said there could not be a greater hostility towards the country than calling the intelligence agency of an enemy country for help. Our party is standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan all the time and in all respects and strongly condemns every tirade against the armed forces of the country, he added.
This matter should immediately be probed and legal steps should be taken accordingly, he said.
The spokesman also said the double meaning attitude of the government in the matter was also deplorable which would be raised in the Senate session and Senator Kamil Ali Agha would present the resolution.
