LAHORE: Federal Revenue Alliance (FRA), the employees union in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has decided not to observe a strike or create hindrance while efforts are being made by the FBR to collect revenue and the financial year is at its end.
Executive body of the Federal Revenue Alliance (FRA) took the decision on Monday, in a meeting to review the prevailing situation, efforts to collect maximum revenue and role of FBR establishment against workers rights.
They said the government needs every employee to generate revenue even when Chief Commissioner has created a problem for the FRA by demolishing the office handed over to the union by his predecessor.
A large number of body members attended the meeting including President Federal Revenue Alliance Lahore Chapter Naeem Abbas Shah and Chief Organizer Waseem Ahmad Dar, which was chaired by President of Federal Revenue Alliance Mian Abdul Qayum.
A union spokesman said the meeting decided the alliance will not bow down to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) establishment but will not create any impediment in the working of the Board, which is aimed at collecting maximum revenue for the country and development of the country.
The meeting, however, alleged a certain group of executive body members are suspended and facing inquiries. All the actions taken by the Chief Commissioner are illegal.
Even no higher court has suspended or terminated the activities of the union at this time and both the parties are in court for their rights, it added. All Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) expressed their trust in the current representatives of the Federal Revenue Alliance.
