Arms seized, one held in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The police Sunday claimed to have arrested a smuggler and seized a cache of arms and ammunition.
“We have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the houses of two brothers and arrested one of them,” said Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon, the deputy superintendent of police, while addressing a press conference at his office.
Jadoon, who was flanked by head of the City Police Station, said that the raid was carried out on a tip off that arms and ammunition were dumped at a house in Dub locality of the city.He said that Mohammad Gulfam was arrested during action while his brother Mohammad Sultan fled the scene.
The DSP said Kalashnikovs, repeater guns, 8-MM rifles, 12-bore pistols and heavy ammunition were also seized.He said both brothers were involved in the smuggling of arms and ammunition to outlaws.
“We have also initiated an investigation to ascertain who is backing the arms smugglers to bust the entire network,” said Jadoon.He added that investigation would pave the way for the more such raids and seizure of the contrabands.
