LAHORE
Allama Iqbal was a man of great vision and a true follower of Holy Prophet (PBUH). By implementing his thoughts in our lives, we can take Pakistan to a new highest.
This was the consensus among the speakers at a function held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal in connection with the death anniversary of Allama Iqbal on Tuesday. Journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami chaired the function. Other speakers including Hafiz Akif Saeed, Arif Nizami, Oriya Maqbool Jan, Sajjad Mir, Dr Saleem Mazhar and Ahmed Javed addressed the function.
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami said Iqbal was rewarded Rs 100 when he recited his famous poem ‘Shikwah’ in a meeting of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam in 1911. He said Iqbal was the poet of Holy Quran. He said there were a lot to be done in the light of Iqbal’s thoughts for Pakistan. He said Iqbal was a man of great insight and he had foreseen the future of China. He said Iqbal was a poet of ‘hope’. The other speakers said: “We are forgetting Iqbal’s true message and unfortunately reduced him to a poet only”. They said instead of rhetoric about Iqbal, the rulers should take practical steps in the light of Iqbal’s guidelines for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
