GUJRANWALA: In a bid to pursue his campaign for improving judicial system and providing speedy justice to the people at large, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik addressed a joint meeting of judicial officers and lawyers at Circuit House here Friday, under tight security.
The CJ admitted that the common man was not satisfied with present judicial system and it was yet to be determined whether flaws were in the system or in the persons running the system. The CJ observed that the judiciary was a profession of pious and God-fearing people, who should help provide justice to people without any prejudices. He said he was in Gujranwala to stress provision of speedy justice to people and not to pay heed to any demands. He said provision of justice on merit was a sign of success of any judicial system. He called upon lawyers to shun strikes on every other issue and avoid seeking adjournments in cases over minor excuses.
The CJ said 696 new civil judges would be appointed this year to lessen burden of work and ensure speedy disposal of cases. He said the number of additional district and sessions judges would also be increased. He claimed that the judicial system was heading for betterment and hoped success of the system.
