Islamabad: Dr Shahnaz Anjum Riaz on Friday resumed the charge of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) as director general after her restoration on the court orders.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ordered the Capital Administration and Development Division, which oversees the FDE, to reinstate Dr Shahnaz to the BPS-20 FDE director general after declaring her transfer orders against the law.
The court declared that under the law, the FDE chief could be transferred by the Establishment Division only, so the CADD order for the transfer of Dr Shahnaz to the special education department as its director general in November 2014 was illegal.
It ordered the immediate withdrawal of that order. The CADD complied with the court orders by notifying the restoration of Dr Shahnaz as the FDE chief.
She has succeeded Amir Ashraf Khawaja, who was made the FDE chief in November 24, 2014.
Dr Shahnaz was removed over the alleged misuse of power and embezzlement of funds.
Earlier, too, she faced a similar situation.
She was transferred to the Academy of Education Planning and Management in February 2010 within a week of appointment as the FDE chief over the charge of corruption.
However, she got back the position in May 2012 at the court’s intervention.
The FDE has seen the change of over a dozen director generals over the last four years adversely affecting the organisation, which oversees more than 400 government schools and colleges in the capital city.
