The Punjab Food Department will start wheat procurement campaign from April 15 in the province, said Dr Pervez Ahmed Khan on Saturday. Speaking at a meeting with the representatives of farmer organisations, secretary food said the provincial government would buy four million tons of wheat at Rs 1,300 per 40kg from farmers. He assured farmers’ representatives that they would be facilitated at every step of procurement. He said the wheat policy 2014-15 had been worked out while taking into consideration the proposals of all the stakeholders, especially farmers. The meeting was attended by representatives of Anjuman Kashtkaran, Kissan Board Pakistan, and Farmers Associates Pakistan.
