LAHORE: Leaders of various religious parties on Wednesday warned that the war in Yemen was a heinous conspiracy against Islam by the colonial powers (West) and the continuity of the wars waged earlier in Iraq, Libya and Syria to pave the way for Greater Israel.
Addressing an all parties’ conference (APC) organised by Tehrik Sirat-e-Mustaqeem (TSM) at Lahore Press Club, the leaders demanded Saudi Arabia-led coalition to stop the war and air raids on Yemen since only the Zionist and Christian powers could benefit from that. They also demanded the Houthi rebels to call off their rebellion and accept sovereignty of Sanaa while returning to their homes.
The joint communiqué warned all the parties involved in the Yemen conflict that they must understand that the West had been eyeing the Muslim holy lands for a long time to implement the ugly designs about Greater Israel. It demanded the government not to make the country a party to the conflict, which would add fuel to terrorism already engulfing the country for over a decade.
The APC was chaired by Almi Tanzeem-e-Ahle Sunnat leader Pir Afzal Qadri and addressed by TSM chief Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali, Sunni Tehrik leader Sarwat Ijaz Qadri, Dr Raghib Naeemi, Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri and others.
The communiqué said the colonial powers had been in search of a pretext to attack and destroy Pakistan’s nuclear assets, and advised the government not to push the country into another unwanted war.
They advised Islamabad to maintain a balance between the relations with Saudi Arabia and Iran, and not allow the opinion of those elements having close ties with the two countries affect the decision making.
The declaration also warned that sending Pakistan Army to Saudi Arabia would divert the army’s attention from Zarb-e-Azb and result in failure of the vital operation against terrorists and divide the nation. It advised the government to constitute an army of Muslim countries to protect the two holy cities, if it felt any imminent threat to them.
Delivering the joint declaration at the conference, Jalali said the APC clarified that Muslims’ commitment with the Haramain Sharifain was not because of loyalty to some rulers or families but because of the faith which bound all of them to protect the holy places at the cost of the last drop of their blood. The communiqué expressed the commitment on behalf of the parties attending the event that they would never allow any harm to Haramain Sharifain and had established a movement for their protection comprising the representatives of Sunni parties.
It also demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to call an APC to chalk out joint strategy on the issue and consider the opinion of all schools of thought since the issue was causing serious concerns among the entire Muslim world.
They announced to observe Friday (tomorrow) as a solidarity day with Haramain Sharifain and said the prayers leaders would address the issue in their sermons. The APC was also attended by SIC leader Razaul Mustafa Naqshbandi, Daud Rizvi, Shadab Raza Naqvi, Khurram Riaz Shah, Mukhtar Ashraf Rizvi, Ehsanul Haq Noorani, Mehmood Akram Rizvi, Mehmood Ahmad Qadri, Pir Iqbal Hamdami, Naeem Tahir Rizvi, Mufti Imran Hanafi, Mujahid Abdul Rasool, Abdul Karim Jalali and others.
