Man hit to death by car

LAHORE : A 50-year-old man was run over and killed by a speeding car in the Sundar police area on Saturday.

Victim Idrees was trying to cross a road when a speeding car hit him from behind. As a result, he died. The accused driver fled the scene. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver. Police have handed over the body to the victim’s family.

Application for FIR: A lab technician of Sheikh Zayed Hospital submitted an application against accused doctors for the registration of an FIR at Muslim Town Police Station on Saturday.

The doctors had allegedly subjected the lab technician to severe torture.

Police said the accused party was trying for reconciliation. However, if they could not succeed, an FIR would be registered.

Man found dead: A 60-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police jurisdiction on Saturday.

The man, yet to be identified, was found dead at Bird Market. Police have removed the body to morgue. The man was an addict who might have died of an overdose of drugs, police said.

Cab company: An officer of a cab company called on SSP Operations Muntazir Mehdi and discussed the drivers’ data sharing issue with him.

The SSP told the officer that the company was bound to get clearance of every driver from Lahore police before registration. He also sought data of all registered drivers.

SP Security Ammar Athar and Incharge Operation Room Abid Rasheed were also present at the meeting.

Thieves arrested: Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff, Model Town, claimed to have arrested three bike lifters and recovered 12 bikes from their custody on Saturday. Police also recovered illegal weapons from the arrested accused, identified as Azeem Bhatti, the ringleader, Imran and Javed. They have confessed to a number of other crimes as well. SSP Investigation Ghulam Mubashar Maiken has announced commendatory certificates for the police team.

Fire: A fire broke out in the drawing section of Lahore divisional office of Railways.

Lahore Divisional Superintendent Sufyan Dogar said, “Record of Railways is safe. An inquiry committee, headed by the divisional personnel officer and deputy director, Land and Property has been constituted. Furniture was burnt and we are assessing the damage.”
