Youth hit to death
LAHORE: A 22-year-old youth died in a road accident on Bheni Road Jallo Morr on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Asif. Police shifted the body to morgue.
Fire: A fire broke out in a cotton warehouse in Manga Mandi area on Wednesday causing loss of millions of rupees. The warehouse began billowing huge amounts of thick, black smoke in the morning. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire after hectic efforts. Officials initially speculated the cause of the fire was an electric short circuit.
swindler: City traffic police arrested a swindler on charges of depriving rickshaw drivers of their cell phones. The arrested man was identified as Ejaz Ahmad. CTO announced cash prize and appreciation certificate for the traffic warden Ansar for arresting the swindler.
Accidents: A total of 768 road accidents were reported in the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Seven lives were lost and 492 injured were shifted to hospitals of the relevant cities. However, some 373 with minor injuries were discharged after provision of first aid by emergency teams.
According to the data, 399 drivers, 18 underage drivers, 121 pedestrians and 352 passengers were among the victims of the accidents. The statistics showed 219 accidents were reported in Lahore, 71 in Faisalabad and 65 in Multan.
The data further showed 624 motorbikes, 101 auto rickshaws, 62 motorcars, 35 van, six passenger buses, 36 trucks and 88 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid accidents.

These views were expressed by the delegation of Comsats during their visit to Punjab Police Integrated Command Control and Communication Center (PPIC3) here at Punjab Safe Cities Authority Headquarters.
The study tour was arranged by both institutions to help students enrolled in the relevant disciplines get first hand insight of authority's premier project PPIC3 that executed advanced methods in Information Technology, surveillance and security.
The visitors were taken to various arms and functions of the project. The Operations Commander briefed the delegation with audio visual presentations on various objectives as well. The delegation lauded the first of its kind establishment in Pakistan. It is a wonderful workplace and learning environment for young graduates and professionals, they added.
PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol registered 205 cases against commuters on various traffic violations. PHP Post Kaley Wali arrested a person Qadir Bakhsh for impersonating a head constable of Sindh Police. PHP teams impounded 17 motorbikes being used with non-registered or green number plates. PHP team arrested six persons for using alcohol and 18 persons for installing prohibited gas cylinders in their vehicles.
