Olympian Raja Fazil breathes his last at 92
RAWALPINDI: One of the oldest Pakistan Olympians Raja Mohammad Fazil has breathed his last here Monday. He was 92.
Fazil — a member of the 38-member Pakistan contingent — participated in Helsinki (Finland) Olympics in 1952. He together with Mohammad Sharif, Abdul Aziz and Mohammad Aslam represented Pakistan in 400x100 relay.
Pakistani quartet after clearing the initial heats competed in the semi-finals heat of the Olympic event.
Fazil was hospitalised three months back of protected illness and ultimately died on Monday.
His funeral prayer was offered in Rawalpindi and later the body was taken to Gujar Khan for burial.
Surprisingly, Athletics Federation of Pakistan remained totally aloof from his illness. No sports related personality even attended his funeral.
