Arif given charge of PSB
KARACHI: Arif Ibrahim, senior joint secretary Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), has been given additional charge of Pakistan Sports Board’s (PSB) Director General.
“In exercise of powers conferred vide establishment division O.M No.3/89/2004-R-2 dated 1st January 2005 and with the approval of secretary IPC, Mr Arif Ibrahim, Senior Joint Secretary (BS-21), has been appointed as Director General Pakistan Sports Board on additional charge basis in addition to his own duties with an immediate effect for a period of three months (90 days) or till the posting of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier,” a notification issued on Monday said.
He would be entitled to draw additional remuneration as admissible under the rules, it added.Arif will replace Amir Ali Ahmed, who served as acting DG PSB for two months. Arif’s appointment came as a surprise as it had been expected that Rana Shakeel, a Grade-20 officer of the accounts section of IPC, would be given the responsibility for three months.
If the recruitment of a new DG gets delayed further, Pakistan’s preparation for Asian Games will be undertaken with Arif heading the board.Because of financial issues the Board has been unable to continue the camps of various disciplines.
