Seeking a trial of disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif, a citizen has filed an application in the District Central sessions court asking the judge to order the police to register a sedition case against the former premier.

Naveed Shah moved the court on Monday claiming that he had approached the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station to lodge a sedition case against Nawaz Sharif who made controversial remarks in a media interview last week regarding terrorists who reportedly crossed into India from Pakistan to carry out attacks in Mumbai.

He said that the police refused to register his case and prayed to the court to issue orders to the officials to file the complaint and to place the Nawaz’s name on the Exit Control List.

The judge examined the application and adjourned the case till Tuesday (today). Separately, police submitted a charge sheet against five people in the case of the kidnapping of two minor girls in the court of the judicial magistrate (West).

Gulzar Marri, Sajjad, Azam, Maria and Sumera are accused of kidnapping two girls from within the limits of Surjani police station and selling them to a couple for Rs1 million. The charge sheet mentions 12 witnesses who had recorded statements against the accused.
