Chairman of Implementation Sub Committee of Metro Bus Service Project Hanif Abbasi has hinted that the mega development project of the twin cities is likely to be completed in next three to four weeks, depending there are no further rains, which affect pace of work badly.
Meanwhile, credible sources close to the Hanif Abbasi also told ‘The News’ here Saturday that the work on the project would be completed by April 24. Similarly, Hanif Abbasi has asked the Punjab Chief Minister to select one of the two dates i.e. April 25 or April 26 for inaugurating the project.
He said that work on construction and carpeting of entire road would be completed within next 12 to 15 days thereafter, the Punjab chief minister, would visit Rawalpindi to not only inspect the work but also give date of inauguration. He said that on Saturday metro buses were operated from Peshawar Morr to D-Chowk on trial basis. Prior to this the entire road leading from F-8 Chowk to D-Chowk was opened for all kind of traffic. He said that road leading from F-8 Chowk to D-Chowk has been widened by 7 feet on both sides to operate buses.
He also denied the claims of certain quarters that substandard work is being carried out and low quality material is being used in the reconstruction and carpeting of entire Benazir Bhutto Road. He said that such people are making false claims as they know nothing about work.
When this scribe asked Metro Bus Project Spokesman Hafiz Irfan, he denied that low quality and substandard material has been used in completion of elevated portion of the project.
He said that efforts are being made round the clock to end the pending work on some components in shortest possible time.
