Emerging subject areas, scholarship opportunities for students highlighted
FAISALABAD: Government College University, Faisalabad, organised a workshop titled “Getting the job of your dream career exploration and entrepreneurship” for its graduating and student community on the new campus, Faisalabad.
The workshop comprised several presentations where speakers, including specialists from various walks of life delivered presentations to inform the students how can they increase their job prospects after graduation and various procedures that they need to follow in exploring these opportunities within the country or abroad.
Some of the prominent keynote speakers included renowned educationist Syed Azhar Husnain Abidi (TI), career counsellor and motivator, Muhammad Nasir, Manager Regulatory Affairs Engro Foods Limited and Tahir Chaudhry, President & CEO Pakistan Institute of Entrepreneurship.
Syed Abidi while addressing the gathering, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for inviting him. Syed Abidi highlighted the emerging subject areas and scholarship opportunities for the students giving them a broader insight into the rapidly changing curriculum and specialised degree programmes that have now become the need of the day.
He went on identifying some specialised subject areas within the Management and Social Sciences area informing the students how the use of technology is becoming important in today’s industry and workplace.
Syed Abidi gave a comprehensive description of scholarships and financial grants that are available to students worldwide and the process to apply for such scholarships if they wish to pursue higher studies abroad.
The workshop concluded with some very intelligent questions to the speakers. Vice-Chancellor Dr Prof Mohammad Ali Shah addressing the gathering at the end of the event stressed the need of providing career counselling and job exploration support.
The VC reiterated that such services can only be possible through the joint efforts of students and faculty and acknowledged the services of the organisations. He was of an opinion that regular events with specialists from all areas should be invited through this platform and thanked the speakers for travelling a long distance to support the endeavours of Government College University, Faisalabad.
