Martyred soldier buried

TOBA TEK SINGH. A soldier, Muhammad Bilal, who was martyred during an attack by terrorists at a check post in Mohmand Agency near Pak-Afghan Border on Saturday, was buried in a graveyard at Chak 320/GB near Pirmahal on Sunday.

Scores of people, including State Minister for Communication Junaid Anwar Ch, MPAs Amjad Ali Javed and Mian Muhammad Rafiq and ex-PTI MPA Liaqat Ali Shaukat, attended his funeral. Muhammad Bilal was the only son of farmer Muhammad Jamil and had joined the army four years ago. He had contracted marriage four months ago. An army contingent from the Baloch Regiment led by Brigadier Rizwan Baig presented the guard of honour while a floral wreath was also laid on his grave on behalf of COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Protest: Residents of Chamra Mandi on Sunday staged a demonstration against the Gojra City police for not arresting gangsters of their locality. The protesters gathered on Bypass Road and blocked traffic for more than two hours. The protesters said that the accused persons were involved in abduction of a girl while they also harassed other persons. They said that they had complained to the police but no action was taken against them. Later, DSP Khurram Saeed rushed to the spot and held talks with protesters. He assured that action would be taken against the accused, who were involved in harassment incidents. To it, the protesters dispersed.
