KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while talking to Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo News show ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ on Tuesday said his party had secured a large number of votes in the 2013 elections from Karachi. He claimed that the PTI would have won several seats if environment was conducive for the election process.
He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) believes that only the PTI could take its place in Karachi.Qureshi questioned that under what conspiracy Karachi people gave us votes in such a large number in the May 11 elections? Our point of view is very clear that no conspiracy is being hatched. We do not want that the MQM is pushed to the wall. We only want to see action against elements involved in destabilising peace in Karachi.
He said that the people of Karachi are looking for an alternate to the MQM and they are seeing the PTI in this connection. He said that Ishaq Dar had taken parliamentary leaders into confidence over formation of judicial commission.
Speaking on the show, MQM’s senior leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that they have so much to disclose to the prime minister. He clarified that the people recently arrested by Rangers were actually taken into custody from Azizabad and not from Nine-Zero.
He said the Supreme Court had ordered to hold local government elections across the country. Neither we, nor Amir Khan’s family knew if he had given any statement during custody.
Speaking on the programme, Geo News correspondent Syed Arifeen said the UAE authorities had given a green signal to the Pakistani team currently in Dubai to arrest Uzair Baloch. The UAE will hand over Uzair Baloch and two others to Pakistani authorities in the second week of April. He said that such extradition cases do take time. He reminded that it took seven to eight months to bring back Tauqir Sadiq, an accused in Ogra case.
Renowned economist Muzammil Aslam said that country’s exports had declined by five percent as compared to that in last year. The Direct Foreign Investment has failed. The tax revenue target set by the government had been twice revised. The government had taken no permanent measures to put the country and its economy on track of progress.
