Mother of all jalsas

The rally that was held in Lahore on Sunday (Apr 29) by the PTI is being called the ‘mother of all jalsas’. There is no denying that it was a large political gathering where supporters and admirers came from all over the country. It was an election-oriented rally and, for the first time, Imran Khan’s speech was not focused on the criticism of Asif Ali Zardari and the Sharifs. This time, he gave an 11-point agenda and discussed what his party would do if elected to power. Although it was a good speech, it could have been even better if Khan had refrained from lengthy introductions and political rhetoric.

The PTI chairman told his followers what his goals were for the progress and development of the country and what steps he will take to achieve these goals. He also explained what to expect from his government. Hopefully, the elections will be held on the scheduled time under an impartial and apolitical caretaker government. Imran Khan must now be given a chance to prove himself. Everyone else has been tried and have failed to live up to the aspiration of ordinary citizens.
