An anti-terrorism court remanded a man facing charges of murdering Orangi Pilot Project Director Parween Rehman in 2013 in police custody for 14 days.
Ahmed Khan alias Pappu Shah alias Kashmiri had escaped to Punjab and was arrested in Manshera a few days ago.
DSP Zulfiqar Jadoon had said on March 19 that Khan was arrested with the assistance of intelligence agencies. He had added that Khan was affiliated with a political party and wanted by the Karachi police.
The investigation officer of the case while presenting the accused before the ATC-IV judge requested granting his physical remand for 14 days as he was not only involved in the murder of Rehman, but had also committed other crimes and needed to be thoroughly interrogated.

Airport attack case
Separately, the airport attack case was put off till March 30 because of the absence of the counsel for the accused.
The court was due to record the evidence of the witnesses in the case and the under-detention accused were also produced, but as the attorneys had not appeared, the court deemed it fit to adjourn the hearing till March 30. Eight absconding accused, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazlullah, spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid, Malik Mumtaz Awan, Asim Shareef, Akhtar alias Plumber, Iqbal alias Thaikedar, Abdullah Baloch and Abdul Rasheed have been declared as proclaimed offenders in the case.
Three accused, Sarmad Siddiqui, Nadeem alias Burger and Asif Zaheer, are being tried in the case. One of the accused, Master Essa, was declared innocent by police under Section 169 of Criminal Procedure Code.
Another aspect of the case is that an accused, Sarmad Siddiqui, had claimed that he was arrested months ago and falsely implicated. He had written a letter to the president following which the Rangers director general, the IGP and other authorities were directed to investigate as whether Sarmad was innocent or not.
