Irfan to face Murad in final
ISLAMABAD: Irfan Saeed (Wapda) will take on Murad Ali (NBP) in the men’s singles final of the National Ranking Badminton Tournament here at the Rodham Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex, following the semi-finals on Sunday.
In the first semi-final, Irfan beat Anjum Bashir (SNGPL) in straight sets 21-19, 21-16. Murad Ali got better of Abdul Rehman (Wapda) 21-13, 21-14 in the other semis. In the women’s singles, Mahoor Shehzad (Wapda) and Sehra Akram also from Wapda reached final after defeating their opponents Bushra Qayyum (Wapda) and Ghazala Siddique (SNGPL) respectively.
Mahoor outplayed Bushra 21-4, 21-7 while Sehra beat Ghazala Siddique 20-22, 21-17, 25-23.Mahnoor and Saima Waqas (Wapda) and Ghazala and Zubaira (SNGPL) checked into the final of the women’s doubles. In the first semi-finals, Mahnoor and Saima overcame Bushra Qayyum and Mehmoona 21-17, 21-8 while Ghazala and Zubaira beat Sehra Akram and Huma Javed 21-17, 21-11.
Irfan Saeed and Azeem Sarwar (Wapda) defeated M Ali Larosh and Nouman (SNGPL) 19-21, 21-15, 21-9 in the men’s doubles semi-final. In the second semis, Rizwan and Kashif (NBP) got better of Attique and Raja Hasnain (Wapda) 21-10, 21-19.
