KASUR: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaqat Baloch has said that the cases of Hafiz Naeem and Noman, who were burnt to death in Youhanabad, Lahore, should be tried in the military courts.
Talking to media after visiting the residence of Hafiz Naeem, one of the two lynching victims, Baloch said that same mind was working behind the lynching of two innocent people and attacks on churches. He said that lynching of two innocent persons in Youhanabad was a worst form of terrorism. The government should take solid steps to discourage terrorism and sectarianism and promote religious harmony and peace, he added.
PROTEST AGAINST POLICE: People on Monday staged a demonstration against police for failing to arrest killers of three-and-a-half-year old Ayesha who was found dead outside her house at Mohallah Sirki Bandha after four days of her missing.
The protesters chanted slogans against the alleged killers of Ayesha and blocked the National Bank Chowk by burning tyres. They also attacked a police party when the team reached to hold negotiations with them. Later, on the assurance of SHO Malik Tariq that the killers would be arrested soon, the protesters dispersed. Local traders also observed a partial shutter down strike to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
