Pakistan's Sindh, Russia's St Petersburg ink MoU
KARACHI: Sindh and St. Petersburg, a Russia port city, has agreed on cooperation in various fields, including education, health, textile, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, information
technology, while a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the field of medical science on Wednesday.
Several Russian delegates, including officials and businessmen are visiting Sindh on the invitation of Sindh Board of Investment and Ministry of Planning and Development.
The event was held under the banner of Sindh St Petersburg Business Forum.
Addressing the participants, Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Saeed Ghani said that it is the beginning of cooperation between Sindh and St Petersburg, while relations of Pakistan and Russia have not been closer in trade, economy, as well as politics.
“It is an opportunity for the Pakistan government to change its policy towards Russia,” he added.
This visit would provide good business opportunity to the businessmen of the two sides, he said, and invited Russia for investment in Thar coal, as well.
“If we get support from Russia, we can revive the Pakistan Steel Mills, as well, which was build up by the Russians,” he added.
St. Petersburg Vice Governor Sergej N Movelan said that he was hopeful of long-term relationship between the two sides. “I propose that we should go for a dialogue. A real dialogue of B2B,” he added.
