ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Public Accounts Committee Chairman Syed Khursheed Shah took a notice of the irregularities and mismanagement in the affairs of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and summoned its management for a detail briefing to PAC.
In a letter, written to the Aviation Division secretary, the opposition leader pointed out that it came in the notice of PAC that appointments on top positions in the PIA were made on hefty salary packages in violation of the rules.
“Those who were appointed on the top positions in the PIA were either above age limit of 60 years or having dual nationalities. They include the chief executive officer, chief commercial officer, chief human resource, legal consultants, chief IT and others,” he stated in the letter to the Aviation Division secretary.
The opposition leader, who is also the PAC chairman, said due to mismanagement and irregularities in the PIA, the national institution was being pushed to financial collapse and frustration among the senior officials of the PIA. “The notice should be taken and PIA management should brief PAC on its management,” he stated.
