Games’ medal winners get cash prizes
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has awarded cash awards to the medal winners of Commonwealth Games at a reception held at Olympic House in Lahore on Friday.
POA President Lt Gen (r) Syed Arif Hasan presented Rs300,000 to gold winning wrestler Muhammad Inam Butt.Rs100,000 each was given to bronze medal winners including Muhammad Bilal, Tayab Raza (wrestling), Talha Talib and Muhammad Nooh Dastgir (weightlifting)
Their coaches were also awarded Rs100,000 each. The letters of appreciation were also given to Pakistan Wrestling Federation, Pakistan Weightlifting Federation and Wapda. Four medalists belong to Wapda whereas one is from HEC.
The Pakistan Olympic Association president in his speech welcomed all the participants including media friends who came to honour the national heroes and also congratulated the medalists while terming them pride of the country.
