LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said the criminals involved in lynching of two youngsters will be arrested very shortly as the police have gathered authentic clues about accused.
He stated this while distributing cash awards/certificates among police officials for their outstanding performance in a ceremony held at Central Police Office Lahore on Friday.
DIG Headquarters Punjab Farooq Mazhar, AIG Discipline Dr. Inam Waheed, PSO to IGP Tariq Rustam Chauhan and other officers of CPO were also present. The IG said police were a frontline force on war against terrorism and morale boosting of police officers/officials, who were performing their duties courageously, diligently and devotedly, would be continued in the department.
The PPO distributed 18,40,000 cash awards among 47 police officers/officials of 12 districts including Lahore, Sahiwal, D.G. Khan, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Bahawalpur, and Khanewal. Among 47 achievers, 10 belong to district Sialkot.
During the ceremony, Inspector Mian Ehsan Ullah was awarded with Rs 50,000 in cash and CC-I. He discharged his duties by safely evacuating a woman who was directly targeted by a mob during the Yuhannabad incident occurred in Lahore few days back. The brave and courageous officer saved woman by risking his own life.
Later, answering questions of the media-persons regarding Yuhannabad incident, IGP stated that it was wrong that no police officials were deployed on the security duty of churches.
