ZTBL have huge edge against CDA

RAWALPINDI: ZTBL were in firm control against CDA after the first two days of their Patron’s Trophy Grade II match here at the Pindi Stadium.

Hamza Nadeem claimed five wickets for 54 runs as CDA were bundled out for just 183 in 63.1 overs on Friday. This was in reply to ZTBL’s first innings total of 445-4 in 83 overs. Naveed Malik was CDA’s top-scorer with a fine innings of 92 that came off 154 balls and included 12 fours. Naseerullah (45) also batted well. Muhammad Ali (2-22) and Bilawal Iqbal (2-25) provided excellent support to Hamza.

By stumps on the penultimate day, the bankers had reached 93-2 which means that they now have a huge lead of 355 runs. Shakeel Ansar was batting on 32 not out while Saadullah Ghauri, who scored a brilliant 180 on the opening day, contributed 36.

Scores in brief: At Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi: ZTBL 445-4 in 83 overs (Saadullah Ghauri 180, Mohsin Nadeem 128, Muhammad Amir 61 not out, Usman Ashraf 56 not out; Umar Khan 2-76) and 93-2 in 24 overs (Saadullah Ghauri 36, Shakeel Ansar 32 not out, Azam Khan 2-17). CDA 183-10 in 63.1 overs (Naved Malik 92, Naseerullah 45; Hamza Nadeem 5-54, Muhammad Ali 2-22, Bilawal Iqbal 2-25).

At Diamond Ground, Islamabad: PIA 332-2 declared in 63 overs (Shehzar Muhammad 150 not out, Hanif Azad 75, Fahad Iqbal 56 not out, Tahir Abbas 41) and 54-1 in 6.5 overs (Maaz bin Veqar 24 not out). Pak Saudi 133-10 in 37.2 overs (Imtiaz Aslam 73; Zeeshan Ahmed 4-48, Fahad Iqbal 3-23 Aizaz Cheema 3-36) and after follow-on 252-10 in 61.4 overs (Hamza Sheraz 61, Muhammad Ramzan 36, Zain Anwar 34, Muhammad Akhtar 33; Zeeshan Ahmed 4-68, Fahad Iqbal 3-32, Aizaz Cheema 2-77). Result: PIA won by 9 wickets.

At Army Ground, Rawalpindi: OGDCL 107-10 in 49.4 overs (Syed Muzammil Shah 30; Muzaffar Iqbal 8-29) and 224-8 in 65 overs (Waqar Khan 60 not out, Sohail Ahmed 32, Moeid Shaikh 24; Muzaffar Iqbal 3-64, M Awais Zafar 2-48). Army 268-10 in 66 overs (Muzaffar Iqbal 66, M Miqdad Hussain 43, Khadim Jan 41, M Awais Zafar 39, Muhammad Atif 34; Sajid Rehman 3-54, Sohail Ahmed 2-47, Muhammad Arham 2-67).
