PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority along with district administration Malakand sealed two ghee mills in Dargai tehsil on Friday.
Wasim Sharif and Lal Ghee mills were sealed over non-compliance with food safety standards and lack of laboratories.
The Food authority staff said that the ghee mills were involved in mislabeling and misbranding.
Another ghee mill named Taaj was fined Rs3 lakh for unsatisfactory cleanliness and violation of production standards.
While the fourth one, Gul Shehzada Ghee Mills, was appreciated for cleanliness and proper standard operating procedures.
Similarly, food safety officers discarded hundreds of litres of adulterated milk in Peshawar. The team lodged a case against a milk dealer for making threats against the food safety officers during the action. The team also sealed the milk shop.
On the other hand, a bakery was sealed over unhygienic conditions and violation of food safety standards in Nishtarabad locality in the provincial capital.
In Bannu, the team imposed a fine of Rs2 lakh on a bakery for violating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Act 2014.
