Public-private partnership termed vital for achieving SDGs

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a seminar on Friday termed public-private partnerships beneficial for removing inequalities and to supplement the agenda of sustainable development goals (SDGs)

Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman was the chief guest on the concluding day of the seminar.

The cellular company Telenor had organised the event titled ‘Sustainability Conference’ to revisit the progress and pledge commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goal No.10 ‘Reduced Inequalities.’

Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Telenor Group, Wenche Agerup, Chief Executive Officer Telenor Irfan Wahab Khan, Country Director UNDP Pakistan, Ignacio Artaza, Deputy Country Representative UNICEF Pakistan Cristian Munduate and senior representatives from Planning Commission SDGs Support Unit and other attended the conference.

The conference featured key notes and a panel discussion by industry experts on challenges related to inequality and how the public and private sectors can work together to enable the people and achieve socio-economic growth.

“Supporting Sustainable Development Goals across our global markets is a core theme for Telenor,” said Wenche Agerup.

Anusha Rahman said the use of public-private partnerships proved beneficial for the progress of the society.

She said the company vision of empowering societies had fully integrated UN SDGs to create real value for the regions it serves.
