The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) on Friday claimed to have arrested six members of a motorcycle-lifting gang and recovered 10 stolen motorbikes from them.

According to ACLC SSP Asad Raza, a team conducted a raid in North Nazimabad and arrested a suspect named Kamran alias Langra for his involvement in motorbike theft. On information provided by Kamran, they then arrested five more suspects identified as Raees, Habibullah, Hazoor Bux, Umar Farooq and Ehtasham and recovered 10 stolen motorcycles from their possession.

Raza said the suspects belong to an inter-provincial gang of bike thieves, headed by Kamran. He added Kamran has polio and one of his legs does not work, yet he used to steal three to four motorbikes a day from various parts of the city and handed them over to Raees. Then, Raees took the bikes apart and sold their parts in Karachi and in Balochistan to a man named Haji. The SSP said Kamran was identified in CCTV footage of a bike theft incident within the limits of Jauharabad police, and police eventually tracked him down.
