National education reforms launched
Islamabad:The quality enhancement cells will be set up in 29 educational boards of the country, said Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Wednesday.
These cells will ensure the improvement of the capacity of stakeholders like competencies, learning outcomes for different courses, training of teachers, paper setters, examination supervisory and assessment staff to design valid and reliable tests, levels of cognition and application of the latest assessment tools, the minister said here.
He said the establishment of the cells was part of the government's Rs500 million scheme, National Education Reforms Initiative, meant to modernise, standardise and ensure merit in the countrywide examination systems.
The minister said the scheme was being executed by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, he said. The minister said the Project Steering Committee comprising representatives of all provincial and local governments had held 15 meetings on the matter. He said the committee was tasked with taking the provincial and local governments on board on the subject. "The inputs of provinces and LGs will be included in the PC-I," he said.
