ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Wednesday burst into laughter over the remarks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Shireen Mazari, who used word “yaar” while referring to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq following which there were gales of laughter all around house.

Just after Dr Shireen Mazari finished her point of order while pointing out the flaws in the newly introduced bill ‘The Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Bills, 2018, MQM-P legislator Sheikh Salahuddin drew the National Assembly Speaker attention to the matter and asked to expunge the word.

To which, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq advised Mazari not to use the same word again in front of others. Dr Shireen Mazari replied, “I did not call you ‘yaar’. The Speaker responded, “You called me that,” adding that he dare not do that.

When the speaker asked her fellow party leaders, Asad Umar and Shafqat Mehmood, seated behind her to ascertain whether she said it or not, Mazari responded, “I can call them both ‘yaar’, why will I call you that.”

Upon which, Sadiq said,“I consider you as my elder sister and resect you a lot.” However, Mazari objected to being called as the elder sister. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that he had seen the age of Mazari on her identity card and that was why he called her as his elder sister. “If it doesn’t suit you, you can become my younger sister,” the speaker said in a lighter tone.
