Fix the prices
April 12, 2018
Although the government has fixed the price of fresh milk at Rs94 per litre, dairy retailers are selling it at Rs100 per litre. The sudden rise has increased the difficulties of low-income families who cannot afford this unapproved escalation in prices. The issue of unauthorised rise in milk prices is old. These practices of dairy farm owners remain unchecked.
It is time the government took strict action on the practices of dairy farm owners. The authorities concerned, including the newly formed Sindh Food Authority, must employ an effective system to control fresh milk prices and ensure that milk is being sold to consumers at government-controlled rates.
