KARACHI: The record of 35 under-trial prisoners who were released on parole is missing from the Sindh Home Department, The News has learnt.All these prisoners released from August 6, 2005, to December 29, 2005 on temporary parole belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and went missing after their release.
These 35 prisoners were booked for their alleged involvement in 68 cases of heinous crimes like murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping for ransom, riots and possessing illegal weapons.
Sources in the Sindh Home Department told The News that the federal Interior Ministry had directed the Sindh Home Department and police to provide the record of these 35 under-trial prisoners and make critical efforts to re-arrest them, but due to unavailability of the record no effort could be made to re-arrest these criminals. The prisoners including Noor Muhammad alias Aamir, Abdul Saboor, Muhammad Akram alias Lamba, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Sher Muhammad alias Shero, Dil Muhammad, Saeed Khan, Asif alias Dumba, Abu Bakar Siddiq alias Kalia, Muhammad Jahangir, Javed Bunda, Jahangir, Dilawar, Saeed alias Kalia, Kamran Ahmed, Rizwan Ali, Muhammad Waseem, Khushi Muhammad, Riaz, Muhammad Kalim, Sultan alias Kapal and others were released on temporary parole under the orders of the Sindh Home Department vide Order No. SO(PRS-IDL/HD/9-28-2003 during former Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar’s tenure.
It is pertinent to mention here that at that time the MQM was the allied party of the Sindh government and General Pervez Musharraf was the ruler of the country.Law enforcement agencies believe that majority of these criminals have fled the country.
