Plea against Sana dismissed
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday rejected an intra court appeal, moved by a leader of Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) for the disqualification of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, after terming it non-maintainable.
The petitioner MWM secretary general Nasir Sherazi had challenged dismissal of his petition by a single bench on the same issue and sought disqualification of the law minister on contempt of court charges.
The petitioner through his counsel argued that the respondent minister uttered derogatory remarks against a judge of the Lahore High Court who also conducted judicial inquiry into 2014 Model Town incident. He said the office of the minister did not permit him to commit contempt of the court.
The petitioner asked the court to invoke provisions of Article 62 & 63 of the Constitution and declare the respondent minister disqualified to hold a public office.
