Faizan, Kashif star in CDA win

RAWALPINDI: Faizan Riaz (127) and Kashif Ali (6-55) excelled Thursday as CDA finished off star-studded PIA by an innings and 39 runs inside two days in the Patron’s Trophy Grade II match here at the Pindi Stadium.

Resuming their overnight innings at 203-3, CDA hit up 366 in the first innings with Faizan striking 12 boundaries in his 172-run knock.Pacer Kashif Ali then ripped through PIA’s second innings to bowl them out for 187. Fahad Iqbal (40) and Shaharyar Ghani (32) played well for PIA. Anwar Ali (30) and Faisal Iqbal (22) were other notable run-getters. However, no batsman stayed long at the wicket to save PIA’s humiliation.

Brief scores: At Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi: PIA 140 in 40.1 overs (Fahad Iqbal 38, Shazer Muhammad 32; Aamer Jamal 8-40) and 187 in 38.2 overs (Fahad Iqbal 40, Shaharyar Ghani 32; Kashif Ali 6-55, Umar Kiyani 2-11). CDA 366 all out in 82 overs (Faizan Riaz 127, Umar Kiyani 51, Naved Malik 50; Aizaz Cheema 3-65, Anwar Ali 3-43).

At Army Ground, Rawalpindi: Army 337 in 68.1 overs (Muzaffar Iqbal 77, Muhammad Nafees 72; Muhammad Akhtar 4-125, Muhammad Imran 2-29, Shayan Azhar 2-51) and 142-0 in 22 overs (Miqdad Hussain 73 not out, Muhammad Abdullah 67 not out).
