NAB KP authorises inquiries

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday authorised an inquiry against employees of Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and contractor over alleged corruption and embezzlement of funds.

The decision was taken at the Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of the National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

NAB KP Director General Farmanullah Khan presided over the meeting. It was attended by directors, deputy prosecutor general (DPGA), case officers, and other officers concerned.

Several important decisions were taken at the meeting, said a handout.

The communiqué said the subjects are alleged to have embezzled millions of funds in connection with 22 kilometer Lilonai to Bilkani road in Shangla district, which was funded by Islamic Development Bank.

Another inquiry was authorised against Israr Gul, Councillor Dheri Katihhel Union Council in Nowshera district about corruption and corrupt practices.

He is accused of occupying government land and constructed houses. It is further alleged that he illegally occupied land of in Christian graveyard situated Dheri Katikhel in Nowshera.

An inquiry was initiated against Muhammad Zaid, deputy forest manager, Forest Development Corporation (FDC) Balakot, and other about alleged corruption, corrupt practices.

Another inquiry was authorised against officers/officials of Revenue Department in Dera Ismail Khan about alleged corruption and corrupt practices.

The subjects are alleged to have fraudulently and illegally mutated three kanal land of Municipal Committee, Dera Ismail Khan in favour of an individual.
