TMA arranges Rs220m for pensioners
Rawalpindi: The Town Municipal Administration (TMA) Rawalpindi has allocated Rs220 million for payment of pensions from April 1. Mayor Sardar Naseem will approve this grant in the upcoming budget session on March 31.
Town Municipal Administration (TMA) Chief Officer Shafqat Raza told ‘The News’ that they have arranged Rs220 million from their own resources for payment of pension to 1,600 pensioners in TMA, from next month regularly.
It is worth mentioning here that TMA pensioners faced difficult time due to non-payment of pensions in the past four months. They have staged protest and even hunger strikes but all were in vain. TMA high ups wrote a letter to Punjab government for funds to pay pension, but the government directed them to arrange pension amount from own resources.
